Hello! Its Brent from Fiskars Garden. Did you know that Fiskars makes a variety of awesome and easy-to-use garden tools? Take a moment to checkout some of the new tools for 2008 at www.fiskars.com. Spring is sprung, and summer is just around the corner. We know that plenty of scrapbookers are busy tending to their own special gardens - so we have challenge for you. Post a picture or two of one of your biggest garden challenges or triumphs and share why gardening inspires you. A team of Fiskars judges will select 3 winners for this challenge. Winners will receive a PowerGear garden tool set including a lopper, hand pruner, and hedge shears - so be sure to include a contact email. This garden challenge will end on Tuesday, June 3rd. We are excited to see what everyone is doing in their garden.

May 28th, 2008 at 7:45 amI think all I would be able to send are challenges. No success stories from last year or this year. My garden is a sad, sad sight.
Too many critters eating our veggies.

May 28th, 2008 at 8:09 amWhat a great challenge! Just this past weekend my husband purchased some pruning shears and they are Fiskars, of course! We just started on our little garden area this past weekend, so I don’t really have any photos to share (at least none that are pretty), but hopefully things will start growing soon!

May 28th, 2008 at 8:47 amSuch great fun Brent! My pictures tell the story… we are up against some pretty big odds, but I love working in the yard. I have so many visions of what could be that I can’t wait to start designing a real garden in the middle of my landscaping. For now, my flowers are plastic, and we’ll pick our first tomato today.

May 28th, 2008 at 12:59 pmI wish I would’ve had some of these great tools to work with while removing poison ivy from around our home this past week. I won’t be doing it the way I did again. I got to spend a few hours in the ER over the holiday weekend receiving treatment for PI. lol! Live & learn. I will be able to use my fiskars trimmer to scrapbook my poison ivy experience. At least our girls won’t have to go through PI treatment since I took care of it for them. The things you’ll happily do for your family.
These tools look awesome! Thanks for posting.

May 28th, 2008 at 2:19 pmWe love Fiskars garden tools! I bought hubby a big set quite a few years ago that came in a nice big tote bag and had shears, pruners, loppers, kneed pad, trowels etc. We also have a pole pruner that we use alot! And hubbys all time favorite is a hand saw that just cuts so smooth… seems like he is always talking about it cutting in just one direction. I used it just a few weeks ago to trim an apple tree with, worked with ease! (no sore arm the next day either!)
There is always “gardening” work to do around here, so we truly appreciate well made tools!

May 28th, 2008 at 2:33 pmour garden seems to get bigger each year now that we own our own home. Our first year, it was a few pots of tomatoes. Last year, it was a container garden…the rabbits ate most of it! This year, a full raised bed garden. My biggest challenge? Fitting everything I want to plant into my garden space! And hopefully, keeping the pesky rabbits out of it!

May 28th, 2008 at 2:50 pmIt is just starting to feel like spring here, so I can’t wait to get out in the garden.

May 28th, 2008 at 7:13 pmI am so embarrased. I have no Fiskars tools. My yard shows it. My poor DH started some work over the holiday weekend and ended up in bed. His old tools wore him out!!!! I did get some seed planted. I need to get some veggies planted.

May 28th, 2008 at 11:37 pmHi, my biggest challenge is keeping this rose bush alive, 7 years ago we transplanted this beauty before we moved into our country home. I was NOT about to leave it or another rose bush behind. We had to take a chance on it living and especially since we moved in December!! Each year we can’t wait to see if it blooms. It takes off overnight it seems. I could smell the intoxicating aroma from across the yard last week and was so excited that we have it for another year. Pruning is a must! Tools would be helpful I tell ya!
I am not sure where you actually want us to upload pictures at? If it is here, I have done that in my profile. Also should be we leave our email addresses here too? Thanks so much. Donna

May 29th, 2008 at 2:14 pmWe just love Fiskars tools. My dh has an axe that he can’t live without.
Gardening is my quiet time away from everything. My roses are my inspiration. Every year for Mother’s Day my dh and son give me a rose bush. It started with when we moved because I had to leave my favorite mum bush at our old house. I had rescued that plant from the end of summer clearances and no one said it would live. It did and it’s still there. I hated to leave it, but knew that at our new house I could finally have the roses I so love. My first picture is of my first Mom’s Day rose bush. The second one is a pic of a rose bush that my mom gave me that she had from her mom who passed away 30 years ago this August. It was just a slip of bush that had gotten that big in 2 years. The last pic is of that same rose bush this year.
It will be blooming soon. It would be great to have some tools to help keep these bushes cared for and living.

May 30th, 2008 at 2:55 pmThanks for allowing us to share about gardening!
I love to garden and grew up raising corn, tomatos, lettuce and more!
I now live in California instead of the Midwest and learning how to garden here has been a challenge. I have just finally after 13 years mastered grass! (Very challenging in So Cal with the poor dirt, lack of water, high heat and three large dogs and kids who run and play on it!). I’ve posted the photo of this success on my profile.
I still have several challenges left in my yard where I hope to plant low maintenance flowers so that I can spend more time on growing healthy fruits and veggies for my family, neighbors and friends.
Gardening is wonderful to get us exercising, eating better and spending time outside. It also makes a great family bonding activity (especially when my pre-teen daughter screams after finding a bug!).
I enjoyed browsing at the Fiskar garden tools and would love to win some. I imagine the pruners and lopers do a great job trimming and would hold up much better than the ones I have due to the great Fiskar quality!

Going from a patch of grass to a garden last year has had it’s trials. The grass that was there seem to want to come through again and it’s a never ending weeding project. I have been seeing that it’s improving. The biggest challenge though is getting all the “volunteer” trees out of it. We cut up some roots of a nearby tree when we made the flower garden and now there are “sucker” trees coming all over. A pair of those Fiskars tree trimmers would be handy that’s for sure.
My little garden has proved to be a joy and I love going over just to look at all that is blooming and growing. Getting dirt between my fingernails is one of the things I actually look forward to when summer comes around…all because of the joy of gardening.

The previous owners of our house were retirees with gardening as their favorite past time. There were plants and fruit trees everywhere (cherry, orange, lemon, Santa Rosa plum, persimmon, kiwi vine, Asian pear, apple). We removed some so that we could have a lawn area for the kids to play on and have struggled to maintain the rest. We don’t quite have the same green thumb that the previous owners had. LOL! However, we haven’t succumbed to hiring a gardener like most of our neighbors do. We are trying to keep it up by ourselves as much as possible. Any Fiskars tools would be much appreciated! =)

June 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 pmI just posted a few pictures online at the Fiskars site. When we bought our house 5 years ago there was not a flower in the yard & we now have 5 perrenial gardens! We both took a Master Gardener course but aren’t certified yet. I love being out there in the yard & my husband helps me make it so beautiful! Unfortunately we came from a downtown home with no yard so are still investing in lawn tools so would love to win some. We do have a few & they are the best!

June 3rd, 2008 at 7:16 pmI just posted 2 pictures in my Fiskateer profile of my gardening challenges. The first is a picture of a flower bed with nothing but 2 dying flowers in it! We have recently done major work on our backyard, and really love it now. When the weather is nice, we spend nearly every available evening, chasing our toddler on the lawn, barbecuing dinner, and just enjoying each other’s company. I would love to work on this last lonely flower bed!
The other picture is of my attempts at growing a veggie garden. I started with just the one garden bed and found that it was tough to grow my tomatoes there, so I added some tomatoes in pots (on the right side of the picture) - they are actually Fiskars brand pots! Although my oldest daughter is only 19 months, she already enjoys helping me in the veggie garden. This time together is what inspires me to garden.

I have 3 gardening challenges from when I bought my house.
#1 - A pair of groundhogs who are keeping me from putting in a garden this year. See how they sun on the deck after they eat!
#2 - The largest poison ivy I’ve ever seen.
#3 - An overgrown rose bush that took 1-1/2″ branch loppers to cut out the dead part. It’s pretty well tamed now.
The loppers are now broken, that’s why I’m entering the contest.
My success is a pretty herb garden.
Thanks for looking.
