Chipboard and Pannekakers (Lene Tingberg)

and now, a chipboard album from our Norwegian representitive Lene (#1073)

DSC06497.JPGI started out with some very light chipboard and cut it into 15 even sized pieces, and then I used the ½” corner rounder squeeze punch to round all the corners. Right about here I think it’s appropriate to give everyone a little warning; if you enjoy seeing, wear safety goggles during this process! The squeeze punches face up and so the little pieces of card stock were flying at my face at high speed. (Paper cuts much more gently)

DSC06512.JPG DSC06518.JPGAfter rounding the corners I adhered most of my background papers, which are all Scenic Route, and sanded the edges lightly for a smoother look after punching holes for the rings. For the photo only pages I could now adhere my photos and then apply two or three coats of Mod Podge for a more durable finish.

DSC06461.JPGDSC06508.JPGDSC06514.JPG DSC06515.JPGFor the touch-and-feel pages I cut out the portion of a photo I wanted to replace with a different surface and traced the outline onto my middle section of the page (each pages has 3 layers for extra durability and easier handling for little fingers). Then I adhered the fabric/fuzz/sandpaper to the middle where the outline was and glued down the top page with the photo. Some of the pages with rather thick fuzz needed a little help and so I brought out some wood working clamps from my DH’s tool box. The silky, pink fabric got a cotton pad underneath for added thickness as it didn’t feel very silky right on the cardboard. That got stapled down to the middle section. Touch-and-feel pages got their coats of Mod Podge before being glued to avoid getting glue on the fabric.

Dymo labels were all put on before coating. I also put some extra Mod Podge on all the edges to try and avoid tearing. Added ribbons to the rings, and voila! It was done. Sounds like a two hour project. It was not. More like four days. But that might just be because I haven’t made one before.

DSC065271.JPG DSC06541.JPG The “treat” I’m sharing is a dinner version of pancakes. Most Norwegians eat these on Mondays (please don’t ask me why!!!) accompanied by tomato soup! Again, don’t ask me why!

Batter for “pannekaker” (Supposedly enough for 2 kids and 2 adults)
1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
2 ¼ cups milk
½ tsp salt
4 eggs
Butter for frying

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until all lumps of flour are gone. Let sit for a while to swell. (You can make this a day in advance if you like.) Brown a little butter in a frying pan on medium/high heat and add a little batter in the middle. Quickly pick up pan and distribute the batter to cover the entire bottom of the pan. It’s supposed to be very thin. It will not rise. When browned on one side flip over and brown on the other. Repeat until all your batter is gone. Spread with jams, syrup, plain white sugar, whatever is sweet, roll up and enjoy!
Warning! You will not be able to make these as fast as your kids or DH will eat them!
