WENDY: Wow! Thanks so much to May for asking us to be the Guest Bloggers this weekend! Kitty and I are thrilled to be able to share our favorite Fiskars products with you as well as a sneak peek into what our new book “Find Your Groove: A Guide to Discovering Your Scrapbook Style” is all about! Our project doesn’t specifically use Fiskars tools….mainly because I did a digital page but that will not stop us from talking about our faves.
Personally, I’ve been getting a ton of mileage out of the new XL Squeeze Punches. I am in love with round n’ round and use it every time I pull out the paper and glue. I am looking forward to adding to my collection and I haven’t wanted to add to my collection of punches in a LONG time. But they are so easy to use and the whole “squeeze left and right to cut up and down” totally fascinates me. Yeah, I’m easy to entertain. As for Kitty, I’ll let her tell you all about her latest Fiskars love.
KITTY: The Fiskars product that I reach for every time I scrap is the 12 inch/30 cm Portable Trimmer. It doesn’t take up much space at my scrapbook table in my room and it is easy to take along to a crop or when I’m teaching a class!
As for our project for the blog, we decided to use one of our book suggestions for getting “out of a rut and into a groove”. Nothing starts our creativity like a good challenge. When Wendy and I started working on this blog post, we used one of our favorite techniques to talk about styles and that would be to show the same picture scrapped in 2 totally different styles and forms of media. The picture we chose happens to be of the Sandfire Bearded Dragon that belongs to Wendy’s son Connor. Yeah, we picked that subject on purpose because it’s just not everyday that you see scrapbook pages of a lizard.
Wendy was able to do a digital layout that was clean and graphic in no time.
Me – well, how does one scrap a lizard shabby? This was a new one for me!
What we want to emphasize is that regardless of the photograph you have, achieving the look or style you want is up to you.
WENDY: Our book covers all the ins and outs of style. From determining what’s your personal style with our witty quiz to selecting products that fit your style to how to keep your style going. We had an amazing team of contributors that helped show the 9 styles that we defined and then there is a gallery in the back of the book from scrapbookers all over the world. You would be hard pressed not to be inspired by the artwork in this book (and relax, Kitty and I didn’t do more than 10 pages each for this book). If we’ve peeked your interest, you can check out the book here:

Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

June 16th, 2007 at 12:36 pmGlad to see that someone has been talking about digital scrapping. I’m a digital scrapper and mostly because the paper and paste thing is a little too messy for me, but I adore making cards the cut and paste way! That book of yours sounds like an interesting one.

This project was a hoot to do. I mean, it isn’t every day that you get to do a page about a lizard! I told Wendy that when she was getting pics of Monty to make sure she got his good side. She did good!
Thank you for the sweet words about the book. It has been doing well (sold out on Amazon in a week - yahooie!) and we couldn’t be more thrilled! We are currently putting together a class that can be taught for a lss. Maybe we will get to teach at yours!
It’s time to fly your Groove flag!

June 17th, 2007 at 12:56 amOh my goodness! This is just further proof that you two are brilliant! I have the book and I’ve read it cover to cover - TRULY inspiring!!
After taking your quiz and learning more about my style, I have to say that my layout would look more like Wendy’s. BUT, I can totally appreciate Kitty’s style, and the fact that her shabby layout about a lizard is presented as a birth announcement . . . well, that’s just plain clever.
Great job, ladies!
