3 fiskateers: theme album #1

Yes, I’ve had secret agents working overtime! I get a lot of requests for theme albums, so I approached 3 fiskateers and asked them to help out. Because each created a whole album they will be posted separately over the next 10 days or so. The rules I gave them were simple: create an album (6×6 or larger) utilizing a specific line of product. They were free to add extras like ribbon, cardstock, brads, etc. but pretty much they used one line of products. The results… well they are AMAZING!!!
Wendy Gibson (fiskateer #336) selected the dog line from Cloud 9- one of my favorites for sure! Below is her album, along with her notes on this album. I think you will agree that this is one amazing little book!
I was absolutely amazed and thrilled with the quality of the Cloud9 “dog” themed line of products. This fabulous quality made them so easy to work with that creating this entire album was a joy. The designers for Cloud9 made it very easy for me to tell my story, my way!! (The only items used that were not from this line were the Making Memories “Vanilla” 6×6 album and the ribbons).
To begin with I had so many photos of my dogs that I sorted them into a timeline that would best tell my story. Then, to keep the layouts cohesive from page to page I chose to create a linear line, across all the two page layouts, using the backsides of the patterned paper which was a coordinating plain color. Keeping the pages very similar in this manner, varying the basic look by moving the linear line up or down and changing the height of it, made it easy for me to finish the entire album quickly.
I especially loved the finish on the “sparkle” paper, the glitter is encased in an epoxy type coating so no worries of it getting all over the layout. The same can be said for the “sparkle” rub-ons!! In fact all the rub-ons in this line can be applied by simply using a finger nail….just like “buttah”!!
I also noticed something interesting about the “gel” stickers, most of the images had a mirror image so I took advantage of this and sandwiched the narrowest ribbon on the binding between two mirrored stickers! This created some cute “danglies” on the binding ribbon.
Through my photos you can see that I attached a ribbon along the back inside of the album and anchored it with a cute little piece of themed chipboard. This ribbon then wraps around a brad which has been inserted through the front of the album. To secure this brad firmly and hide the “wings” on the inside of the front cover, I took another piece of themed chipboard and hot glued it right over the brads “wings”. This will ensure my brad does not come loose with repeated openings.
Thanks for the awesome inspiration Wendy! I love that her ideas can be applied to any theme album! Want some furry fiskateer love? My dog Jake will draw a winner for some Cloud 9 dog embellishments on Wednesday. Just leave a comment here!

April 23rd, 2007 at 2:28 amWow! I am so impressed with the coolness of your album. I never get tired of pet-themed scrapping (or cards, or tv shows, or books, or anything!) My favorite photo subjects are my animals. My dogs are so patient and cooperative with me when I get out the silver bright light box and run around after them everywhere. I’m very lucky!
